Queen Elizabeth School



Our institution, officially established in 1940, has an enrolment of 833.  There are 394 ZJC students, 341 O’ Levels, 89 A’ Levels and 9 special class students.  The boarding section has a total of 140 students.  The figures cited above are being assisted by 48 teachers (44 Females and 4 males), 8 government non teaching staff (6 females and 2 males.) There are 32 SDA employees who render service in various areas.

The deputy, senior master and Senior woman are responsible for general discipline and pastoral care. Problems that cannot be solved by the form/subject teacher should be referred to the above people or the Head of Department. Only very serious matters may be taken straight to the Head. The head holds regular meetings with senior staff where all problems of discipline and other matters are discussed.

Heads of departments
Heads of departments are responsible for:

  1. Staff within the department gives assistance, guidance and ensures there is discipline in the department
  2. Syllabus: checking schemes and records of work
  3. Timetable: allocation of classes within the department
  4. Examinations – allocation of setting and marking schemes
  5. Textbooks-selection, ordering and issuing of textbooks – maintaining a secure orderly stockroom and condition of books
  6. Past examination papers for re-use as class tests/mock examinations
